Holy Hunter! Now they really do look like twins!
It started out as a fun summer trip west to the ranch....now we live here. Our days are filled with the serenity of the mountains, the beauty of the high desert and the adventures of life on the ranch.

Yup....I married that guy
You know that guy that drives around with cute dogs on the back of his truck? Thats my husband! Bow, Susie and our latest addition, Jep.
The BB I did for Hunter's class
He loves it when I volunteer, but tells me I cannot kiss him in front of anyone.
Despite a flat tire, Vanessa and her dad arrived that night. It was awesome, totally wonderful, to see Vanessa. I know her dad had a great time! The boys just loved him!
I am always telling people there is something that is very healing about the mountains where we live. There is something that is good and makes you feel happy and I think that happened for Dave. Such good times! And a lot of beer!
The team
We had a lot of people who had already pulled out at this time. It was all really cool! And we were done in about 4 hours.
One guy got a mouth full of smoke and puked
You definitely cannot stand down wind. Even I start to get a little queasy after a while.
Game on
It was really cool to see how everyone had a job to do and just came together to get it done. So the Cowboys would be out on their horses with their lasso and ideally rope by two back legs and then gently drag it over. Then a guy would get the calf in a little head catch that was staked in the ground to hold it while the guy on the horse held the back legs. Then a team of people would come and give all the shots, the ear tag, the implant, and the branding. Greg did all the branding and he totally rocked it !
Already breaking out the root beer
We had about 7 trucks and horse trailers that created about a two-acre corral. Then between each truck trailer and the truck that pulled up behind them, we had huge panels we used to make sure no calves escaped.
There must have been about 20 people! Maybe 14 people on horses. It was really awesome. It was amazing to watch how calm the cows walked down into this Corral we made and there was just no stress. Well, I suppose there was a little, but not like when we get them into the working corral and they are all freaking out.
The doughnut run
The boys and I ran into town the morning of brandon to pick up donuts for everyone. I think between my 3 kids they ate the most! Later in the morning, I looked over at Katie and she smiled at me and told me she had had 4!

Working on looking past the dust
That's hard when Katie keeps leaving me little love notes everywhere.
Mid way through
Can't wait to see the hearth on! They'll do that last.
Greggy is here until Sunday and am sure Scott is grateful for the help. They work at the same speed, which is speedy. Beer and brats on the grill tonight.... And then probably A LOT of dusting!

But still smiling in the morning
Hunter had a good sleep despite his broken pinkie. And is ready to greet the day with smiles.
