Softball tournament

Katie did a great job playing third base. Even cracked one out into the grass! They lost the first game, won the next two then lost.
I was glad! It was about 100 degrees!

In need of some water!

When in doubt, just curl up in the water bowl.... They are sure to notice!

The zig zag pee!

Lots of giggling...

An impressive kind of brain

It takes a special kind of thinking to get this all figured out! Scott loves it!

All had to come up to see the progress!

Can't believe it... It's looking like home!

Looking like a house!

Loving my new earrings!

Got these from a dear friend. Those friends are hard to find!

Motor cycle racers

Although Hunter just said this morning that when he grows up all he wants to do is ride horses, I think after the motor cycle racers practice on Friday and we come to the show on Saturday he might be steering towards becoming a motor cycle racer himself!

Learning to fly...

This is one of the hawks born this spring!

Hunter and I were on our way back to the cabin from the new house and it was just sitting there. We all just stood and stared at one another.

What I love about this is that there is so much goodness to recognize all around. I have had a very busy month and getting back from vacation is always a bit of a downer. Not that I am not happy to get back to life here at the ranch, however, there are just a lot of other things that come with living in this area that are hard to adjust back to. So maybe I have had my head down a bit. And this hawk sitting right there above us was a great reminder to keep my chin up and pay attention to all the beauty and goodness that surrounds us here.

Wishes

Job well done!

7 year old job at our house

One reason to get excited about turning seven at our house is that you officially are the candle lighter!

The boy in him

And then Scott ride it home!

A new bike

So awhile ago, Ben blew out the tire on his bike so Hunter told him he could have his. Katie moved up and has been riding mine so Hunter started riding hers. It was certainly time for Hunter to have a new bike. Purple is just not his color!

Just so you know, I am never really crazy about new stuff for the kids. Honestly, within a day or two the stuff is broken plus they grow out of it all so fast. But poor planning on my part meant that our only option for a bike was a new one from Walmart! I find I cannot get away from supporting that place!

Katie and I went to pick out the new bike and wanted to play a little trick on Hunter and hide it. So we parked it up on Rattlesnake Road. Our plan was that we would pretend we needed to check the water tank and drive by the spot where the bike was parked so he would notice.

After Hunter had opened all his presents we had to take some new belts down to the shop. On the way back our plan was to go up rattlesnake road and have him find bike.
I told Hunter on the way up I thought I had seen a snake so that he would be looking in the right direction. Finally, he said that he did not see a snake, but that he saw a new bike!

We all get out of the car and walk over to the bike. Hunter is smiling from ear to ear and cannot believe it! We are all smiling as well because he loved it so much. Scott told him to get on and give it a try. The seat was definitely too high for him, but he got on anyway.

Hunter starts pedaling toward a giant pile of dirt. As he gets closer, we can see he is pedaling backwards as fast as he can but still continuing to go forward. The next thing we know he is one tire up on the dirt hill and slowly falling over onto his side. It was like in slow motion because the seat was so high! All that time he was trying to use the brakes not realizing that his new bike has hand brakes. So, there was his bike, his brand new bike, laying in the dirt with the edge of the handgrip already ripped off!

Oh well! It's already well loved!

Opening presents

Ben got Hunter this fishing net. Big smiles!

The birthday boy

All he wanted to do was go to the Young Living Farm and go on a paddle boat ride.

A pretty awesome second

So the other thing Hunter wanted to do was rock climb but it was closed. Suddenly here comes a team of ponies! So the guy let Hunter drive 'em!

Now this I can support!

Lots of these on vacation in Puerto Rico!
They go great with rum punch!

And THIS!!!

Look at the size of that can compared to Katie's head!  Katie and I laughed so hard in the aisle at Walmart, as you know.... one of my favorite places--- HA!
But seriously. What kind of tuna casserole these people making?

LOL

Really?

When would anyone EVER really need a gallon of soy sauce?

I can feel my body swelling and my heart palpitating just looking at that!!!!

Granite counter top choice

Just could not do Ubba Tub a AGAIN! Did that one for our last two kitchens! Although we were close to picking it again, but decided to get out and "do something new".

Eyas #2

Eyas #1

The latest addition to our ranch family

This is the mom. She has a nest at the end of our new driveway. Now there was a nest there last year but did not know if hawks nest in the same best each year or if it gets taken over by another hawk or an owl or something.
Anyway, she had two offspring this year. For the last several weeks we have been doing a slow drive by watching the baby hawks, which are called eyas, sit in the nest. I hold this imagine in my mind of there fuzzy little heads illuminated by the late afternoon sun.
Now, they are still not flying but instead perch out on a limb most of the afternoon.

Close call

OK, so I was walking over to the chicken coop with some fresh water and suddenly there in front of me the ground starts moving and I look down and there right in the way of my next step is this lady!

Needless to say I was not a very good example of " stopping and having away slowly"!

This one is named Marley

Potatoes found well!

We even ate some radishes from the garden the other night! We each were able to have about 7 slices! Also, the tomatoes plants look great! And the box of herbs is looking good too!

Every day is a wrestling match with mother nature and brother wind! Nothing like growing a garden in the high altitude. Not like growing a garden in Wisconsin where even the air is wet!!!!

Our own tree house

This place is awesome! We have spent most of our time - when we are there- on the deck.

Cabo Rojo

One of my favorite beaches in Puerto Rico! Spent the day here with cold beers and watched either two manatees or two smaller whales play all day!

Lots of fun

Sushi night!

Sista love

Safe in the shade

We just walk along the beach until we find a nice little opening in the mangrove trees and that where we settle in for the day.

The view

Hiking

We did a little hiking as well. Super hot and humid but well worth the view!

Too funny!

I just bought this beer at the local market! I actually laughed out loud!

How many pictures does it take

to get it just right?
A LOT!
