A new bike

So awhile ago, Ben blew out the tire on his bike so Hunter told him he could have his. Katie moved up and has been riding mine so Hunter started riding hers. It was certainly time for Hunter to have a new bike. Purple is just not his color!

Just so you know, I am never really crazy about new stuff for the kids. Honestly, within a day or two the stuff is broken plus they grow out of it all so fast. But poor planning on my part meant that our only option for a bike was a new one from Walmart! I find I cannot get away from supporting that place!

Katie and I went to pick out the new bike and wanted to play a little trick on Hunter and hide it. So we parked it up on Rattlesnake Road. Our plan was that we would pretend we needed to check the water tank and drive by the spot where the bike was parked so he would notice.

After Hunter had opened all his presents we had to take some new belts down to the shop. On the way back our plan was to go up rattlesnake road and have him find bike.
I told Hunter on the way up I thought I had seen a snake so that he would be looking in the right direction. Finally, he said that he did not see a snake, but that he saw a new bike!

We all get out of the car and walk over to the bike. Hunter is smiling from ear to ear and cannot believe it! We are all smiling as well because he loved it so much. Scott told him to get on and give it a try. The seat was definitely too high for him, but he got on anyway.

Hunter starts pedaling toward a giant pile of dirt. As he gets closer, we can see he is pedaling backwards as fast as he can but still continuing to go forward. The next thing we know he is one tire up on the dirt hill and slowly falling over onto his side. It was like in slow motion because the seat was so high! All that time he was trying to use the brakes not realizing that his new bike has hand brakes. So, there was his bike, his brand new bike, laying in the dirt with the edge of the handgrip already ripped off!

Oh well! It's already well loved!
