Best buddies

Poor "D".... he just doesn't get a break when Hunter is around! Hunter even asked if he could sleep with the big boys tonight! Unfortunately for Hunter, I told him they stay up too late!

The final step

I realize now how many steps are included when you pack up and move across the country, build a house and completely relocate. But getting our stuff packed up into this U Haul has been something that we have been talking about for 15 months! The fact that day finally arrived was a little overwhelming for me.

So after I watched Scott back up an impressive distance with that trailer attached to the U Haul, I walked back to the lake house and felt pretty emotional.

Maybe it was just the fact that this day finally came to pass or that I just needed to mark it in some way, but there were definitely some tears. Maybe it was just simply a release that I needed from feeling so overwhelmed with the whole process of packing up. Again!

There also seemed to be such a permanence about the whole thing. I am not sure why it took a couch or whatever else went into that truck, stuff that I don't really like or care about for the most part, to make the whole experience of our last year seem that much more real, but it did for some reason.

It was like we were moving away for the first time all over again. I just had to have a moment where I had to stop and lean against a tree and just cry for a little bit.

But when I got back to the lake house, I sat and watched something called "drunk history" online and it was absolutely hysterical. I highly suggest it for anyone feeling a little blue!

Let the adventure begin!

If you see this handsome dude, driving the zebra u Haul, you know who that is!

The last of the last

I actually had to have Scott hold the suitcase in while I pulled the U Haul door shut. Not sure how everything with shift and move while they go across country, but for the time being, we got the door shut!

Getting it all in

So, it was like a puzzle to fit everything in.

There were lots of things that did not make it. I suppose it makes sense to not bring some of the things we know will not really fit in with our new house , but some things were hard to let go of.

My grandma Bunny bought us a beautiful glider with a matching ottoman that was great for nursing because it had that little pull out for your feet. I realize there really would be no reason for us to move it all the way to Utah, but at the time of packing last year, it was too hard to get rid of. I hate the idea just dumping stuff off at Goodwill for it to merely be overpriced and sold to someone who doesn't really care.

So after we got everything shoved and crammed into the U Haul, here we were left with quite a bit of furniture including this glider and ottoman. We were out standing on the street next to the U Haul and a car drove past and I could see a woman sitting in the passenger seat with a big pregnant belly. I decided that I would flag them down and see if they wanted the ottoman and the glider along with our pack n play.

Lucky for us, they took the pack n play right away and said they would stop back the next day for the glider and the ottoman. It really did seem like it was meant to be. They had taken a wrong turn and were not even supposed to be on our road . And then I saw her drive by and have this big pregnant belly just as we are standing there talking about what we're going to do with all this leftover stuff. They didn't even like the rocking chair they had set up in the room for their first baby.

So, sure enough they came back today and took the glider in the ottoman and one other chair. It is a great story and they said they had told many people already about the situation!

I have to say, that for myself, I feel so much better about giving that chair and ottoman a new home. I can remember all the late nights of rocking our babies and all the wonderful memories, the sleepless nights, the tears and laughter and time spent in that chair. And it makes me feel really good to know that someone else, someone just starting their journey of becoming a mother, will now have that be part of their experience.

5 guys and a piano

Not really sure how it will get unpacked when we get there, but will cross that bridge when we get there!

Major down pour

Hoping for good weather tomorrow!

Haven't lost my touch

All those years of packing and moving paid off!
Well..... Hopefully.
We are kinda panicked that we won't have enough space and are now looking at all this shit we packed last year wondering why we even bothered with half of it!

The day has finally come.

Feeding all the deer

Hard to get thru the zoo when we had to stop to feed all the deer! Had a great day!

Lunch time for the bobcats

Amazing

For apparently no reason this wolf and it's mate just started howling. It was so cool!

Feeding time

The albinos

Bears drinking the bubbley

I am not sure if it's sugar water or what, but those bears sure can guzzle it down. Best dollar Hunter spent all day!

At the wood chuck show

The fudge factory

So funny I forgot to laugh

So.... after a long day of boating and beer drinking, guess who fell asleep on the couch and got his toe nails painted! I could hardly hold the laughter back while Katie and I were doing it. He did not even notice until Hunter asked him why his nails were painted the next morning! Scott could not believe I did it without having any polish remover. That was pretty brave of me.... Power to the she! Heehee!

Face painting

Here's my baby tiger, Ben.

Love this.

The girls at camp had side walk chalk. Love this message and how that particular message is just out there everywhere. Sometimes literally!

And even more fun!

Life tub boy

So he decided he was not going to ski, but rather hang out in the tub after a long day of the rest of us skiing.
We have very hard water in Utah so there is no bathing. Guess he has been missing that!
Just hanging out for the rest of the night, drinking rum punch and grilling. Loving it here at our friends family cabin and looking forward to northern WI tomorrow.

Hunter too!

So Hunter got up too!
For the first time for both kids, they both got up on their first day! Scott and I both got up too. We kept saying it is like riding a bike and glad that was actually true!

Sticking to it!

Kate was awesome! She sure stuck to it and did get up out of the water on skis several times!

First catch of the day!

The best of friends!

Bart and Hunter. Hunter has a way with Bart and they just love each other.... Even if Bart does smell like fish!

At the lake

One night they swam until 8pm! It was great- dinner was also bedtime snack!

The morning of departure

Nothing like the way the sky looks right before the sun peeks up over the mountains. You just cannot help but feel gratitude and love for all things within this moment.
Surround all things with love.

So Scott

But in a cowgirl way.
When did she get so grown up looking!?
I know I am probably biased, but I think she is so great!
