The first of many

This is literally right out in the front field.

I, of course, was doing my usual Sunday afternoon activity, staining the house! So I was up in the bucket staining the high parts and all these deer are running through the field. It was odd because usually they hang out in the wash. So we figured there was something that was making them come up. Sure enough, when Scott got down there on the four wheeler there were two guys walking up out of the wash.

Of course, the first thing Scott asks is if they know where they are. They said they had parked down below and thought this was all public land because it was not posted, which is totally not true because it is posted everywhere. Not to mention the fact that you have to climb a barbed wire fence over into an alfalfa field, you think that would be a dead give away that the land belongs to someone. They had actually parked along log Canyon and just climbed the fence. They said someone had told them all the land was public. Which really got under Scott's skin because it is just hunting common knowledge that you don't climb a fence into an area that you don't know what you are climbing into!

Not to mention that then they said they shot at a rock! So there are a ton of deer in the wash, you are in your hunting outfit with a shotgun, and you expect us to believe that you shot at a rock? Do we look dumb?

So, that was exciting. But it was early in the day!

Then, after the sun had set and hunting was technically over for the day, some idiot drove up log Canyon and shot from the road and killed a buck in the wheat field. Okay, so that is totally illegal! And when Scott got down there, the guy was climbing the barbed wire fence to go get it. Scott said his typical, "Dude, what are you doing??" At least the guy had shot the buck dead (only a 2x3, but still) so Scott allowed him to go get it so it would not be wasted.  But it was so dark that he had even called his wife who was coming up the road with a flashlight!

And like usual, he said the same thing as everybody else does, he did not see the sign, someone told him that that land was public. It is rather exhausting so Scott just said I am NOT going to argue with you, just give me your name and phone number and I am going to turn you in.

No sooner had Scott gotten back up the driveway when we see flashlights on the Buckskin again from two guys who we had earlier kicked off. So, off Scott went once again.

Eight more days of this!
